Does the iPhone 4s upgrade to iOS 8.3 make my phone slower?

Iphone 4s upgrading to iOS 8.3

Does it make my iPhone slower and will it take more memory or will it just replace earlier version. Then what is the memory space for iOS 8.3?

What are you running right now? If you're going from like iOS 6 to iOS 8.3, you will notice a decrease in speed. However it still runs fine on 8.3. Although technically a hair slower, you'll only notice the difference if you're jumping drastically from an older OS. Or if you have an iPhone 6 next to it.

Note, it's not kind to the battery life, though.

I've got an old 3GS that I upgraded up to iOS 6, I think. It did make it slower but it still works fine.
If you can handle the device losing some " zippiness" then you might consider it.

I've got an old 3GS that I upgraded up to iOS 6, I think. It did make it slower but it still works fine.
If you can handle the device losing some " zippiness" then you might consider it.

If you use the 4s on iOS 7 or 8, here's suggestions:
To help your 4s run as smooth as possible, try these suggestions.
1. Leave 20% or more of your internal storage space free. This helps to not constrain the system.
2. Get rid of unnecessary features. Yeah, some are cool, but they will bog down an older model phone.
3. Disable transparency effects. Toggle on "Increase Transparency" in Accessibility.
4. Toggle off "Background App Refresh".
