There must be a way to set this without turning Restrictions on. But my post above with is the only way I can find (with TouchId on, at least).
To be straight on this, if you have touch ID, you need not do anything except set your preference on the pop up. But like in my case with no touch ID, one must go to Settings >General >Restrictions and toggle it off, then turn restrictions back off. Am I right? If you have TouchId enabled you don't seem to have that setting. However I purchased a free app and got a pop up asking me if I wanted it to save my password to use with future free apps. I think purchased another free app and didn't have to e get a password or use TouchId. The wording of that popup could be better, but it did work.
Sounds right, I guess. I don't want to try turning TouchId off to see if I get the option in Restrictions though.
Can someone please help me. I tried doing as suggested to turn off the password but the option was greyed out. I don't have touch ID switched on. I even deleted my thumb print and the option is still greyed out and can't be turned off
When I went into General>Restrictions on my iPhone5 I had to Enable Restrictions "I then had to enter a 4 digit passcode" to get in.
I then scrolled to bottom and turned off the password restriction for free app.
I then went back and tapped isable Restrictions " had to enter same 4 digit passcode"
This worked for me.
