Anyone have any ideas why developers are so slow to adopt the new extension APIs? Popular photo apps like VSCO and Facetune, for example, are ideal for this as well as the countless Twitter clients.

I do love that the Gmail app support it so i can add more then five photos to an e-mail at once via my Photos app. The mail app for some reason has a limitation to 5 photos or otherwise you need to handle it one by one via the Mail app (and then you can have more then 5 attached)

You can send up to 20 photos on one Gmail email. Average size.

I wasn't aware that Gmail had a maximum but it's still a lot better then the 5 with the standard Mail app (as far as the Share Extension via the Photos app is concerned).

The 20 photos are sent on one email in the stock mail app. It's not just 5. Not Gmail anyways. It may be a few less if the images are very large. But I've sent emails with 20 photos many times. It works on my Comcast and iCloud accounts as well.

Maybe it's just from the photos app where the limit is 5. But that is a limitation of the photos app, and not the mail app. You could add 20 individually to mail or use other apps. But you can add and send 20 photos. I use a photo album app called MyPhoto. I use it mostly as a utility tool. But I have albums that I sometimes email photos from. I do 20 per email. At one time, I had sent 54 emails with 20 pics on each. When my wife got her iPhone 5c, she had no way to move her 600 photos from her little LG Enlighten to the iPhone. So I emailed them 20 per email to her iPhone. The 5 limit has to be the photos app.

I do the copy and paste too for small numbers. I keep a lot of photos on MyPhoto. From there I do 20 at a time.
Here I have marked 20 images, then tap "mail" and the 20 go on an email and I enter the address and subject then send.

That's what I like about it. I still prefer the look of iOS 6 to 7 and 8. But my point was 20 images per email in the mail app.
