Adding a new device

Finally getting an iPad (Yay!). I've never had two iOS devices before though, so I'm not sure what I want to be doing. Is there a tutorial somewhere that I'm missing, or is reviewing the new iOS 8 features enough for me to get the two devices playing together with each other, iTunes, and my account? Did a search, but I didn't really see anything that struck me as being in the right direction.

It can be kinda confusing learning how everything interacts. A lot of the time it works the way Apple thinks it should work, and not necessarily the way I do. Not saying one is better or worse, just not necessarily expected.
