Why is there a lable on my screen that says Extended since iOS 8.1 update?

On "Extended" since iOS 8.1 update

My daughter purchased an iPhone 6. She updated it to iOS v. 8.1 recently; today she told me that the carrier label on the screen is always showing "extended" - we're on Verizon, so that means it's roaming on Sprint. I still have a 5S & nothing like that happened. I've done some searchng here & can't seem to find the answer. She has switched the phone completely of & on again. Any ideas?

Try doing a reset network settings. If it doesn't clear it up I suggest contacting Verizon.
