....And I wont be renewing it.
My iPad is currently running iOS 8 beta 5.Will I be able to update to beta 6/ GM when they are released, or will they refuse to load - or worst still, brick my iPad?? Beta 5 seems relatively stable and I could hold out to the public release if need be.

In the past, the GM didn't need to authenticate to install... Expect the same until it's proven otherwise.
you shouldn't be able to upgrade to future betas as it might fail verification, but you can upgrade to GM once released.
From what I've seen after my dev account expired and I didn't renew, as long as your devices were registered before the expiration, you can continue to update and it will pass verification. All of mine continue to get the updates and pass.
