Group iMessage

Ever since I updated to iOS 7 my group messages show as individual messages on my phone when they reply, but others in the group chat say that most of the time (not always) they show up within the group message on theirs, but it I reply to that individual message it only goes to the person I was replying to. Makes it confusing for me because I never know for sure if what is showing as an individual iMessage on my phone is being seen by all or not. If I reply to it within the group message I can never be sure if I was replying to a comment everyone else can see or not. So it just confuses everyone in the group chat. Annoying.

All the individual messages are still coming through as iMessages and all parties have iPhones so that's not the issue.

Has anyone else seen this? Am a missing a setting that was changed when I updated?

Settings - iMessage - make sure group chat is on.

I love the fact that now the group chat is shown with the first initial of the responder in a circle. Makes it much easier to see who was saying what.
