Jail broken Mini not showing available update

It just says searching for update and the pin wheel just spins.
Do I need to remove jail break completely?

I am not jailborken, but I would think that would be necessary.

I believe OTA updates are disabled. You should be able to update via iTunes.

How do you propose he "remove the jailbreak completely" without restoring his device?

The way you remove the jailbreak is to restore to a factory iOS. iTunes is currently offering iOS7. There is no intermediate removal step. As someone else said, the evasi0n jailbreak should be disabling the OTA from showing up. Plug it into iTunes and go.

I believe OTA updates are disabled. You should be able to update via iTunes.

You are correct. I have jailbroken my iDevices in the past and OTA updates don't work until the device is back to stock.
