iPhone 4S crashing after ios6 upgrade

Dozen to two dozen times per day, the apple lights up in the center of my screen for 5-10 seconds, and then the phone asks for my password. This happens intermittently after I tap the mic icon, after a period of inactivity, and sometimes after I just entered m screen password less than a minute previously and I've been texting constantly on the screen since. It's not the regular screen password requirement when you've been idle... It's much more frequent, random, and in the middle of usage at times, and it's only happened since the ios6 upgrade.

this might be a perfect situation to Restore as New. that's what i would do
