Reset my jailbroken 3gs on accident

I purchased a jailbroken iPhone 3gs
I didn't know it was jailbroken at the time and I reset the data..etc..
Now it's stuck on the iTunes logo
How can I fix this?
I don't have SHSH blobs
and i've tried downloading firmware 4.1 and restoring it but iTunes says its not compatible

Plug into iTunes and hit Restore. You can't use 4.1 anymore, only the latest 5.1.1. This also means if you had it unlocked for t-mobile or something similar that you won't be able to use it there unless you get AT&T to unlock it.
