I have a Verizon iPhone 4 jailbroken with jabreakme.com on 4.2.8
I want to upgrade to 5.0.1 with the new untethered jailbreak from reds0w. I have tried
To use iTunes while syncing with no luck only errors. Does anyone know what to do? Thank you in advance

Are you saying you can't restore in iTunes? If that is the case I believe you can put the iPhone into DFU mode and connect to iTunes. This should force the iPhone to update to latest software. That worked for me, can anyone else conform?

Yes booting into DFU mode WITHOUT the phone connected to your computer will do the trick, iTunes will recognize a phone in DFU mode and force a restore, hope this helps.

I will try that, when I plug in the phone to iTunes do I hold the option key while doing that? I really appreciate your help, thanks

Plug in your phone and have iTunes running, hold home and power until you see the USB cable and iTunes logo, click restore.
