hey all quick question, im currently running the tethered jailbreak on 5.0 on my iphone4. How do I go about switching over to the untethered? can I just plug into itunes and click upgrade to 5.0.1 and then run the untethered tool? or do I need to restore the phone to get it off the tethered JB then upgrade to 5.0.1 to JB untethered? Thanks

I'm on 5.0 tethered via RedSnow and want to make sure I follow the right steps to go to 5.0.1 untethered.

Can I do the OTA update to 5.0.1?

Or should I load 5.0.1 via iTunes? Do I need to completely backup and restore?

For now everyone needs to update to 5.0.1... Then jailbreak...
Or sweat it out a few more days until the code is fixed for 5.0...

Where you already running 5.0 on a tethered jailbreak?

Did you upgrade OTA or connect to itunes? Did you have to do a full restore?

The way I ended up doing it was backing up my phone, then restoring and installing 5.0.1, then jailbreaking with the untethered once running stock 5.0.1. Worked perfect and I'm running untethered on 5.0.1 now. Did it this way because I wasnt sure if hitting "upgrade" for 5.0.1 right from itunes instead of restoring first to get rid of the tethered JB would screw something up being I was running the tethered JB.

From my experience you don't need to do a restore, but it's not a bad idea because then you start fresh and just rejailbreak.
