Hi guys newbie here, asking a stupid question. How, if at all, does jailbreaking affect using your phone on your service providers network?

Being jailbroken doesn't have any effect on the network. Some jailbreak tweaks, however, have an affect. A good example are the apps that allow you to tether.

Programs such as Pdanet or mywi. Both of which I bought and used.
