Iphone 3gs tetherd JB cant launch Cydia

I just jailbroke my iphone 3gs tethered to get cydia and unlock it and all that jazz, but when i go to open cydia on the phone it just flashes, then goes back to the same home screen.

anyone else have this issue or know a way to fix it? i have tried searching the internet and some forums, but to no avail.

You need to do a tethered boot first. Cydia will launch after that.
