Calendar Event Dot

I've updated both my iPhone 4 and my wife's iPhone 4 to the new iOS5. On my phone, when I have a calendar event, there is a dot on the date (month view), but her phone doesn't have the dot. Any one have any ideas why her phone's calendar is different from mine? thanks in advance.

My only input here is to check if her device has the calendars "shown". If there's an event, but the calendar the event is on is "hidden", you won't seen the "dot" in Month View. That's all I've got.
