Since upgrading to iOS5 I now have duplicate photo albums on my iPhone.

One is called "Photo Library", the other "Vacation 2011", but they have the same pictures. I synced phone with iTunes and deleted one in iTunes, but it deleted both on my iPhone.

Any idea how to get rid of the duplicate album?

Did you delete them before or after you synced? If you if you synced up and backed up, then deleted the photos, then installed iO5 then your phone probably used the backup you had just made ( pre picture deletion) for the reloading of your settings apps etc. after the update. Just a guess though.

Forgot to mention, had you synced/backed up then deleted the photos, then re-synced/ backed up, you probably wouldn't have had a duplicate. Again just guessing.

I think that's just how the photos app organizes files: Photo Library is all your synced photos, while the albums are subsets of that. Try adding a second synced album and see if those also appear in your Photo Library.

It's not a "problem". It's just the way it works.

"Photo Album" is just master folder that includes the pictures from ALL the folders you've synched via iTunes.
