Keep trying. It took me 2-3 attempts to FINALLY get the restore going. Once it gets to the "Restoring apps" phase you're good.

I was able to download the IPSW files directly via Ultrasn0w.ca, however, my iPad, EVEN in Recovery Mode, gives me an error 3200 in iTunes saying it is unable to restore it.

I am thinking I may need to restore via XCode on my mac to a previous version of iOS now, but I don't know if that will work.

I'm going to guess yeah. This is the first time a MAJOR update has come out since they had the iphone on 2 huge USA carriers. Plus you have ipod touch 3/4th gen users, ipad 1/2 users and iphone 4 users. Thats a LOT of people hammering their servers at once.

Okay, so XCode is working and restoring my iPad to the proper iOS 5. Weird that iTunes, even with the iPad in Recovery Mode, wouldn't restore the iPad.
