was just given iphone 4 how to i unlock? (4.1)

i was just given an iphone 4 which was bought sometime back but never used.. it is on 4.1 and 02.10.04 baseband

i tried to download 4.2.1 OS and install it using option + restore but it wont let me.

is there anyway to unlock it?

simple answer is no. unless you are going to try the Gevey SIM thing.
