    Hi, all-

I'm hoping someone can help....I stupidly hit update from 4.2.1 before saving my SHSH blobs and now I cannot do anything with my phone. It's stuck in recovery mode but doesn't let me actually restore. When it tries to verify with Apple it gives me a message box saying the device is not eligible for the build.

Any advice or do I need to just save up and buy a new iphone 4?!

Did you edit your host file to point toward Cydia, manually or with Tinyumbrella? Most likely that's the problem. Google for instructions on how to fix your host file.

    KAB..... sorry. It's this link.

Either link will show how to edit your host file (followed by a reboot).

    Hi, all-

I got a little further today. I followed the link about editing the host. I had to literally leave my iphone on all day trying to restore it. No luck. It stays stuck on the restore, but at least I'm no longer getting the ineligible message! Not sure what else to try....but I guess I'll keep researching. Any other thoughts??

    its quite simple..
goto /etc/ and find ur host file.
open it with txtedit. and remove all the lines that have gs.apple in them.

just save it and do a regular itunes restore.. wil work just fine.

inorder to get ur phone into dfu mode keep the home and power button pressed til the phone cycles off.
it wil come back on.. and then go off a 2nd time!
    this time its off...

keep ur home button pressed and connect to itunes. then let the home button go. u wil be able to restore a 100%

Yeah if you've edited your hosts file now put your phone into DFU mode and open iTunes and click Restore.
