I dont know how to get it back ... and if I try and restore Itunes is making upgrade to 4.2.7 which you cannot jailbreak ... please help!

If you saved your SHSH while jailbroken you should be able to restore to your old firmware. Google Tiny Umbrella for some ideas or check out the stickies here about jb and restore methods.

Oh. Maybe I misreadsounds like you just need your Cydia icon back? Try general/reset/Reset home screen layout. You might also look here: Tip: Missing or Hidden Icons | iPhone News, Help and Guides

I just downloaded the 4.2.6 software from some website how do I get Itunes to install this file?

Massie looks like all i can do is restore but it will go to 4.2.7 ... i have 4.2.6 downloaded on my windows computer, but dont know how to install it??

It depends. If Apple is still signing 4.2.6 you can just use Shift+Restore (or Option+Restore) to point iTunes to the correct ipsw. If Apple is NOT signing it, you can't use it unless you saved your SHSH earlier. If none of this means anything to you, then please read the sticky posts about how to jailbreak and/or google some walkthroughs about it. It will be much easier if you've watched a few YouTube videos on how to do it.
