    Hey everyone,

Hoping someone can help: my (very old) iPod touch has got a lot more music on it than I have backed up on my external hard drive, so I can't use any jailbreak software--like Blackra1n, e.g.-- that requires me to upgrade the iPod version through iTunes, obviously (all the media on the iPod would be deleted), since one of the main reasons for jailbreaking it is to move those extra songs onto my computer! Would kind of defeat the whole purpose...

So here's the odd predicament: What software is there that bypasses the firmware upgrade, yet will work for 2.1.1 on Windows 7 Starter? My netbook is really new, but my iPod's really old. I tried QuickPwn 2.1, but it doesn't seem to run on my Windows 7 Starter (I also tried Winamp with a ml_ipod plugin to move the songs, but it didn't recognize my device, so I've decided I need to actually jailbreak it)...does anyone know of software that is compatible with W7S yet would still work for firmware as old as iTouch 2.1 without the need to upgrade it?

Thanks a lot for your help!

There is a program called iPodCopy, and this allows you to pull off all the music on your ipod, so that you can store it while you figure out your jailbrekaing process. You can download this iPodcopy for free through cnet. Here is a link:

You can also use this software to add the music back on the ipod when you are done.
