jailbreak i phone 2g and unlock with no Sim card

hi i just bought a i phone 2g i have no Sim card and it is not activated do i need to activate it with a at&t Sim card before i jailbreak and unlock i have tried to run blackra1n but it will not reboot at the end and the picture of the guy dose not come up if i do need to activate with a at&t Sim card can i use my dads card thanks

It's best to activate with ATT card, even not active card will work. Otherwise, using hackivate can cause issues with push data. Use Redsnow to JB.

If you have an AT&T SIM you can use that otherwise you can use an ipsw made in pwnage tool with the hacktivate option. I've used that on my own phone for 2 years without any problems.
