Yea I use my phone for work so I don't wanna chance not being able to use it until I plug it back in the comp.

lately i have been running around with a USB flash drive (with redsn0w and the proper ipsw) and a cable so i can do a tethered reboot on any computer, since iTunes is not a necessity

have yet to be in a situation where i needed to use it, but it's a nice safety net

Thats what I am saying. All the articles that reference these jailbreak all say "soon" but thats about it. Ill get excited when its released and my download of it says 100% complete.

IIRC new bootrom 3GS were stuck with a tethered jailbreak for all of 3.1.2 and until 4.0 came out with jailbreakme.com

I don't mind the wait since I'm on the tethered version but saying "soon" for the past few months has gotten very old. Just say it's release is coming but not soon!

Yes, which is how I jailbroke mine.

If it comes and it's a safe untethered JB where I don't need to downgrade anything and can be done no matter what my baseband/firmware is and was a simple to do as all the rest (i e blackra1n, spirit, Jailbreakme and Limera1n or Greenpois0n - I know I've had my iPhone 3gs a while) then I'll be JB again. But if not...I'll happily stay on stock.
