Hi all,

Been out of the scene for a while plodding on with my 3gs on 3.1.2.
Can anyone tell me if there is a working untethered JB to get me up to date with the OS. Saw someones Iphone the other day who was up to date (not jb'd) and the OS looks good.
I know there has been some jb's in the past, but they all seemed too much hassle.
Is there an easy JB with tutorial?

I'm running iBoot-359.3
I've found on helpmejailbreak that I can JB to 4.2.1, but it's using redsn0w 0.9.6 beta 6...Is this the JB that people are having problems with?
Should I wait for proper release?
Don't want to lose my JB

Well, currently redsn0w for iOS 4.2.1 is a tethered jailbreak, unless you have a mac, in which case you can run the untethered beta for iOS 4.2.1.

Where did you get your info from?

For 4.2.1, old bootrom 3GS is untethered and new bootrom is tethered. There's a Redsnow beta that if you have / use the 4.2B3 SHSH blobs saved, you can make new bootrom untethered. Also, works on IP4.

This beta requires a Mac though right. And Yes I forgot that the old bootroms can be untethered.

Yes. Redsnow beta hasn't been updated to work on Windows. You also need saved 4.2B3 SHSH blobs.
