I hear all this talk about "Userland Jailbreak Spirit" or "Spirit the first Userland Jailbreak" but what exactly is a "userland jailbreak"?

In addition, do you upgrade to 3.1.3 first then jailbreak or do you have to do something first then upgrade?

Unlike conventional jailbreaking techniques, userland jailbreaks are a much easier process whereby users are required to merely point their Mobile Safari browser to a particular URL to jailbreak their device. This technique was possible in iPhone OS 1.x but have since then been rendered ineffective thanks to continuous security upgrades by Apple.

    So wait, it's a browser-based jailbreak right?

Then wouldn't jailbreakme.com be the first userland jailbreak?

I can't remember exactly when but i think half of all the sites say "the first userland jailbreak"... maybe they ment since 1.1 but since it's so old they forgot

    Thanks for clearing it up
