i have a iphone 3g, jailbroken on 3.1.2, i just wanted to know if it is possible to connect to the internet wherever i am? when theres no wifi networks about? thanks.

bear in mind im on pay as you go? and no ive never tried 3g, dont ever remember seeing a 3g icon in the status bar, only ever seen wifi and edge?

If you don't have Wifi the only way I know of to connect to the internet is 3G/Edge. It can be very costly if you don't have a data package in your account so you might want to check out the cost before trying it. There are many ways to have it disabled, SBSettings, Phone settings -> Network, by your carrier so that may be why you've never used it or seen it.

The iPhone will connect to the internet in this order, depending on availability... Wifi, 3G, Edge, GPRS. The last three are cellular and will pull data through your carrier, potentially costing you $$ depending on your data plan.

well i have tried to connect via 3g but all it keeps saying is that im not connected to a cellular network.

Go into Settings>General>Network>Enable 3G

Turn it on.

And next time, specify what carrier you're on.

Specify if you're UNLOCKED

Specify a lot more.

And for future reference, don't demand answers. It's just going to piss off the people who can give them to you.
