help: text message sounds

Can somebody give me an idiots guide to changing text message sounds from the ones on the phone to custom sounds without jailbreaking if possible.

Im guessing he did that to build his replys up. Until you hit 10 posts there are some things you cant do. He has only 13 posts and like seven of them all came at the same time, lol.
