Best version firmware to unlock in for a 2g iphone v3.1?

I tried searching but had issues with short character lengths. i have an iphone 2g running 3.1 and am looking to do an untethered unlock. i know i don't want to be in v3.1.3 but what about 3.1.2? is it of any benefit or should i stick with v3.1? i've used redsnow with good results for my ipod touch but does anyone here suggest something different for my situation?

i'm having trouble finding anything for windows jailbreak & unlock for version 3.1 . where can i find an upgrade or downgrade for the OS that will allow me an untethered jailbreak and subsequent unlock?

Dude you have a 2g, there is never a tethered JB. With the 2g you might as well go with 3.1.3, since you can still JB and UL using redsn0w.

Jailbreak 3.1.3 with redsn0w, and unlock with BootNeuter from Cydia.
