Problems with blackra1n jailbreak

Hi, I have jailbroken my I phone (16gb 3gs, 3.1.2) with blackra1n, however, when I turn the handset off, the phone tells me I need to plug it into itunes, Itunes then tells me the phone is in recovery mode. I hit the blackra1n button on my desktop and all OK

Anyone know what the problem could be here?

You have a tethered jailbreak due to the newness of your iPhone. Nothing you can do about that. There's numerous threads around here discussing the same scenario. Just search for tethered jailbreak.
