Trying to JAILBREAK + UNLOCK iPhone 1st gen.?

I keep trying to jailbreak and unlock my iPhone 1st generation but it hasn't worked. What program is recommended for the 1st generation iphones? My phone is on the screen that has the apps showing and everything but says NO SIM and when i put in a t-mobile sim it doesn't show bars? What should I do?

Also everytime I try and downgrade the firmware to 3.0 my itunes does it but then in the very end get a message saying "The iphone could not be restored. An unknown error occured (13)"
