Restore question - v. 2.2.1

I have an IPhone 3G I jailbroke about a year ago. I want to upgrade to 3.0 since the new apps I've tried to d/l require the upgrade.

Since the jailbreak, I have switched all my computers to Linux OSs. I have access to other Windows boxes with ITunes, but not the one I used to jailbreak with originally.

Question: if I use a different box, can I sych up and just hit 'Restore' on ITunes, or are there software files I must d/l first? If files are needed, which one? I understand if I attempt an update on my IPhone as is, it will lock up.

Appreciate in advance the assistance. I've attempted to find the answer by google and forum searches, but I assume the answer is so obvious to most people it never gets discussed *grin*.

Start by syncing with iTunes. Then restore to 3.1.2 and set it up as new.
You can use any PC or mac to do this..

Thank you. Just wanted to be sure it was that simple before I messed something up. Sometimes it's the things that one assumes one knows that fouls up the whole works.
