The most up to date firmware is 3.0.1. There is no reason to be on any previous version. 3.1 may be out next week with extra features.

What exactly do you want to know?

3.0.1 is what will come on your new iPhone, and you can unlock and jailbreak with it.

Why are you convinced 3.0 is the best, and if you're so convinced, why do you come on a forum and ask the question?

3.0.1 can be unlocked/jailbroken just make sure you use 3.0 firmware to jailbreak it.

Update it.

EDIT:And if its a iPhone 3Gs it has to have 3.0. And 3.0 & 3.0.1 are the same.

3.0 and 3.0.1 are not the same. Heck, the numbering system alone tells you that. The 3.0.1 firmware fixed a security issue: you would be foolish to use anything else.
