Summerboard? Winterboard? Springboard?

Summerboard? Winterboard? Springboard?

I've tried looking everywhere, but I can't find a good explanation of what each is. I haven't been an avid jailbreaker since I upgraded to the 3G last year, so I kind of need a basic education again.

Springboard is apple's default app for homescreen(s) and app management.
Summerboard was an expansion on that to allow theming.
Winterboard allowed more advanced theming and the ability to change imgs that summerboard couldn't. Hope that helped.

EXACTLY but add that Winterboard added ability to use UISounds which are like ringtones and text tones... easier to apply with winterboard then to ssh them or whatever else

Actually, Winterboard and mobilesubstrate are in Cydia now.

Last night, I pulled the test versions off saurik's website and installed them. This morning, I found updates via Cydia.
