Iphone won't sync after downinstall to Tiger

I've recently downinstalled from Leopard to Tiger so I could put Avid Mediacomposer on my powerbook, but now my Iphone isn't getting recognized by my itunes. I still have all my bookmarks, playlists, etc on the Iphone and want to get them back onto the powerbook. Is there any way to force the Iphone to get recognized and sync with my computer?

Is your iTunes under Tiger up to date? Can System Profiler see an iPhone attached to the USB port?
