I just bought a new iPad Pro 9.7". When trying to restore it from previous iPad backup about 80% of the photos and videos (15000 photos) did not sync. Once iTunes got a photo it did not likes - it just abandoned the sync.

Only after syncing folder by folder I actually managed to sync about 90% of my photos and videos. In each folder I had to find the ones that iTunes does not like. In every folder there were some photos that iTunes does not like to sync. Previously I was under the impression that is GIF related because I renamed gif to jpg and iTunes synced them. But it was only some of them.

I managed to sync full folder of mostly gif pics in which some jpeg and jpg and png did not sync. From some reason TIF and AVI are not welcome anymore too.

So to summarize: iOS 9.3.1 has a bug because all the folders were synced to my iPhone 6s and my iPad Air just 3 weeks ago without any problems when I restored my iPhone and updated my iPad to iOS 9.2.

I hope that Apple will fix it in the next iOS release.

In the meantime if you have photos on any device do not sync through iTunes because it will destroy them.

BTW - I am using PC with Win10 and latest iTunes 12.3.3.17 64bit but the same problems are discussed in iTunes for Mac https://discussions.apple.com/message/30016183

Thanks for the tip. Fortunately, I've not experienced any problems like that with iOS 9.3.1 and my iPad Pro, but then again, I don't maintain a huge collection of pics on my device either. Anyway, if it is indeed a bug of some sort, I, too, hope that it gets fixed in an update soon. Take care...

Mine is doing the exact same thing. I'm on my second one. Thought it was perhaps a flash drive issue but nope. C'Mon Apple - 9454 of my 15400 photos sync, and that's all? Obviously an issue with the new 256GB iPad Pro or iTunes, figure it out and fix it!

Actually from what I read the issue is with the latest iTunes 12.3.3.17. See here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/30042469#30042469.
iTunes 13.3.2.35 is doing the job but if you have many playlist you will have to export / import them manually so... we will have to wait for the next iTunes release.
