It's actually only been 30 minutes, but I would think Apple would make sure it would not be an issue. That would be way to much bad press.

My husband has the 4s and upgraded last night. Other than the slow download of the OS it seems to be running perfectly well. He also noticed that the phone also has more pep now

Overall it seems good. I have a bit of weirdness when I reboot, as it takes a few extra seconds for the actual lock screen to appear, but the phone runs ok. I'm not sure about battery life though, and I have never once complained about battery life before. I am likely going to do a backup, put the phone into recovery mode to wipe and reinstall, then restore. I think my install may have some slight corruption due to a very slow download/upgrade process yesterday.

I forget where you do this. If you remind me I'll try on mine. Or is it that you just aren't seeing them in the list of apps under the "Cellular" menu option?

Settings > Cellular > scroll down to iBooks and Podcast

looks like with iOS 8 there is a second way:
Settings > scroll down to iBooks or Podcast > use cellular Data

Neither of these have worked for me

I don't see the option for cellular data at in the iBooks or Podcast settings. And in the "Cellular Data" menu, they aren't listed with the other apps at all on my phone.

Interesting. My screens don't look like that! All I have for Podcast and iBooks is "Background App Refresh" "Sync Podcasts" and "Only Download on WiFi"

Nothing for cellular, and again, not listed in cellular. Just further confirmation to me that my upgrade is somehow jacked. I'm going to go ito recovery mode tonight and let it reinstall.

Great. Much better. I definitely had a messed up install. My email within a meeting is ok now, and I got the right welcome screen. The only issue I had, on Verizon Wireless, was after restoring after recovery mode reinstalled, I couldn't activate the phone. I just had to erase all settings and content (new phone setup) and then restore again. Perfect. I am seeing bad battery life though, but maybe because I'm playing with it a lot. Overall though, I am happy with iOS8 on the 4S.

I stayed with the 6. versions and avoided going to iOS 7. I backed my 4S up, cleaned up extra messages in different apps and downloaded iOS 8 last night. Due to the somewhat slow connection speed I have through Centurylink it took about 6 hours to download it last night! After reading some oft the different threads here I decided to take the plunge and update this morning. It actually went very smoothly and I think I am going to like it! Not too skippy about the removal of the camera roll but I do like the way it is laid out and will be somewhat easier for me to find photos and videos. It seems to be a little faster than before I updated!
