can i update my iPhone 3 with iOS 7?

I have an iPhone 3 I think with iOS 6.1.6 it says my software is up to date but some apps I want to install need iOS 7. Can I update my iPhone with iOS 7?

Sorry iOS7 requires iPhone 4 or newer. https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1682?locale=en_US

Yup. Even if you could, I wouldn't.
I've generally found that three major updates is the most I am happy with, in terms of performance. Beyond bs three and my phones become laggy.
