Any idea why I can't take a picture with it set to auto or flash on? I have to turn flash off to get a picture I can see. If i turn flash on all I see is white, barely see what I'm taking a picture of.

Care to tell us what device you are using? Are you using the native camera app or a third-party alternative? Do you have a reflective or protective screen covering the camera lens & flash?

When flash is on, are you seeing a constant beam of light on the subject you're trying to photograph? If so, are you certain that you are not in "video" mode? If you're absolutely certain in camera mode then you might want to backup your device and then restore it just in case it is a software glitch of some sort. If it still occurs after that, it's safe to assume that you have a defective camera. Are you still under warranty or have AppleCare? If so, you might want to make a Genius Bar appointment with the nearest Apple Store.

No light stays on, just a flash. Has happened since I got it new and has been updated several times. Guess I'll take it to apple
