how to make a URL a favorite in Safari

I've been trying make some of my bookmarks 'favorites' in Safari and I can't figure it out. I've clicked everywhere in the web page, and nothing. How do you make something a favorite? Thanks!
This is IOS 7, on an iPhone 5

On your phone - go to settings>> Safari>> Favorites -- in there, you'l get your bookmarks - and you can pick a bookmark folder to be favorites... my 'favorites' have always been what is in my "bookmarks bar" from Safari on Mac - that's what filled in the iOS bookmark favorites when I first synced from my mac.
