For the past few weeks, my 4s has been shutting off at 7%. This has only really happened (that I noticed) since the upgrade to iOS 6.1.3. I have always been the person to let it completely discharge down to 1% or completely off before recharging it fully. I wonder why 7% is now the lucky number. Anyone else having this issue?

Have you tried a hard reset seems the calibration is off .. On my 4s my battery would drop to say 90 really fast but if I did a reset it would be back at 95 or higher

I do hard resets frequently throughout the day for the heck of it. I wonder if that could possibly be causing the problem.

Try draining the battery down all the way until it's dead and then charge it and use it as normal and see if that helps.

Mine shuts off a random battery % numbers. Sometimes it'll go at 7-8%, sometimes 4%, and sometimes I get lucky getting down to 1%. Just depends on the day.

Keep in mind that the percentage shown on your iPhone isn't entirely accurate. This is just an estimate based on the amount of charge present on the battery. As the battery degrades over time, the estimated percentages won't match up precisely with the actual juice in the battery.

I do drain it down all the way every single day. But like the OP said, it gets to 7% and shuts off. When I plugged in and it finally turns on, its already at 12%.

I assumed I wasn't the only one. I know the % is only an estimate, but again, this is only started about 2 weeks after upgrading from 5.1 to 6.1

I just make the assumption that when it hits 10%, I need to get to a charger ASAP.

The only time my 4S shuts off at 7% (or lower) is if I'm using the camera app other than that it drains down to 1% all the time.

The only thing I can suggest that has worked for me is charge your battery to 100%, copy any photos or videos from your iPhone that you want to keep to your computer, then restore with iTunes, setup as new, re-sync your apps, music, videos, then unplug and use it until it fully dies, then charge it full without interruption, then let it fully die again and charge it full without interruption again, then use it normally and see if still dies at 7%

Try closing out all apps in the multi-tasking app switcher. Plug the phone in to power and then turn the phone off and let it charge for 3-4 hours. It will be at 100% then see how long it lasts.

I always do a clean install and not a restore. I have even redowndloaded a fresh 6 OS same issue. I close all apps all the time. Not going to worry to much about it if the C comes out later this month.

best way to help with this is to recalibrate the battery by running the device until it runs completely out of battery. then recharge it to 100%. For mine that does the trick. It does comeback though eventually. Why i don't know.
