I just downloaded an app that on the App Store it said it was 540 mb but then I downloaded it ad checked my usage and it said it was 1.1gb. Is this normal? Or is something wrong?

Most apps (especially games, downloaders) have extra data for game info, account info, documents if it's Pages, and other stuff.

To make it more clear. Most apps have two parts - application and user data. Application size is fixed and that is what you see in the App Store. User data is variable and that is what adds up. A classic example would be the music app. It is real small but once you load the music the app size is huge depending on how much you load. Hope that helps.

Think about when you download an app on a computer. The actual install file that is downloaded is one size and usually smaller while the actual program after its installed is quite large.
