It seems im getting better battery performance on my iPhone 4s since the 5.1 update. Battery is still poor if im on 3G however if i disable it lasts me the whole day with about 5-6 hours of usage.

I do have to say, when connected to wifi my battery life is awesome.

However when connected only to 3G, my battery life seems to struggle now. I will give it a few more powder cycles.

Ever since I enabled baseband logging yesterday, it has gone slightly lower. After a few days with 5.1, performance is generally the same since 5.0. Still, 5.0 beta 6 was much superior to what is out now...at least for me.

Haven't noticed a significant change either way. Although it does seem like there maybe a slight improvement when connected to Wi-Fi for what it's worth.

what the hell? did they load 5.1 as soon as you bought it? i would have figured there'd be plenty with 5.0.1 left for a while

it came with 5.0.1 but I updated it because I heard about how bad the battery was on 5.0.1.

My battery life was already pretty good, but I can't deny that I've noticed an definite improvement in battery life with both my iPhone & iPad.

I'm in the same boat. I've had my 4S since day one of release & it's all gravy . The only things that drain my battery fast is gaming for a few hours & streaming (videos, radio etc...). Since the update my battery life is actually a bit better when streaming. I've only stream for an hour max when out and about.

Kinda hard to tell still, but I feel mine's just a little bit better. I don't seem to lose as much on standby overnight as i used to

An obvious increase in standby time is where iOS 5.1 shines brightest. As I aforementioned, my battery usage has been great and still is, but the standby time I am getting now is out of this world! Very nice.

    Hey Guys,
Can someone please explain what constitutes a cycle in battery terms?
I understand our device battery has a limited life of so many cycles.
So is a cycle each time your charge regardless of the % left or does it have to be below a certain level.
And what if you only charge it to 85% cause you're press for time - is that considered a cycle?
    TIA

When someone is talking about cycling their battery it's a full 100-0 (or really close) discharge followed by a full charge. What you're talking about is a partial cycle. So let's say you discharge to 50% and charge back up, that's half a cycle.

Don't worry, you're not "using" a cycle each time you plug in, it's cumulative.

I just got my 4S and battery seems worse than my 4, but I'm playing with Siri a lot so it's hard to tell.
I am very sure you must restore your iOS device, rather than update, to fix issues like that.
