Last night I had a friend over and he had never seen or heard of Airplay and all it's magic so I fired up Apple's Trailers App on my iPhone 4 and then airplayed it to my Apple TV that is hooked up to a 55 LED TV, however the picture and trailers were SO grainy that it almost did no justice in showing off the airplay. Why is this and is there anyway I can change it?

I'm going to assume your TV is 1080p. When viewing anything less than that it will always be grainy and "bad". The only way to make it look good is to supply the TV with 1080p content. The trailers on there are much less than that.

Yeah, it is and that is kind of what I thought I just wanted to make sure. So this might be a dumb question but do we know what the Trailers app on the iPhone is broadcast as?

Not sure; being that they look so good on the iPhone they are probably 960x640. The iPhone should AirPlay mirror in 720p.

So then not sure if then when using AirPlay it gets a new feed that is really 720p or there is some up conversion to 720p. Which your TV then up converts to 1080p. Not the best scenario.

Did it look really bad or just like you weren't viewing 1080p content on your TV?
