I have 5 gb of "other" clogging up my phone. I have tried restore form backup, clicking on the auto connect to itunes, and unsyncing contacts etc. None of this has worked. Any suggestions?

the only thing that will get rid of it is a restore as new.. its a corrupt file that is also in your backup
Probably all your saved text msgs, especially if there are a lot of pics in them... Mine fluctuates
I doubt his text messages are adding up to 5gb... that would take 5 thousand 1 mb pictures
plus the other part of it is the iOS firmware which is already about 2.5 GB i believe

Isn't the whole iOS download only 700 MB or so?
The OS is definitely not 2.5 GB...
I've restored as new and my "Other" never changes. I don't know what it could be...

Look at an empty iPhone ... If its a 16 there is only 13.7 or whatever it is available ... A 32 there is only 29.2 or whatever it is ... Think again

reset your network settings. Goto Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
You will need to re-enter any WiFi addresses you connect too, but your "other" will shrink.
That's not quite how it works, there's a difference in the measurements.
