Saving Text Messages

Apologies if this has been asked before, I had a brief look but couldn't find anything existing on the forums.

Is there any way to save a text message? Pressing and holding the message just brings up an option to copy it, and going in to 'edit' only brings up an option to forward it.

It may be that there isn't a way to do it, but was just wondering if I was missing something obvious. Thanks.

Yeah this would work, but I was just wondering if there was any way to archive a message like there is with e-mails. I guess there isn't.

Probably not what the OP is looking for but with Google Voice your messages are actually stored in your GV account. Your device just syncs with your GV account. If you lose your device, switch devices or even switch from one device OS to another you just load the GV app on the new device and sync. Messages are also accessible via any internet connected PC using the GV site (and you can send/receive through the site without your device). Of course, GV has its caveats.
