iCloud confusion

I've noticed since iOS 5 that the contents of my phone now include 6.5GB of "other". Does anyone have any idea what that is and how I can get rid of it?

Also, when I dig into the iCloud "manage" area on the iPhone, I noticed that all my apps are backed up to iCloud. How is this different than before iOS 5? Were apps being backed up to my computer then?

A buddy of mine had the same problem after updating and for him it seemed like itunes was trying to double sync music to his phone. He had a ton of duplicate songs that showed that he had 8 GB of other.

Someone else who had this problem just told me that he had to unsync and then resync everything. Ugh.

I had this same problem (had 8.5GB of "other"). I had to "restore" using iTunes and it went away. Make sure you have a current backup before restoring.
