In the WWDC, it was written on the slides that we would have Facetime 3G. After that, we never heard back of it.

    Someone know what happened?

    Thanks!

Has to be allowed by the carrier, so far I have not heard of any of the U.S. Carriers allowing it yet.

When I'm in a phone call there's a Facetime button on the active call panel, presumably just press that if you're talking to someone on a compatible device. Presumably it's all hidden and transparent behind the scenes, like iMessage. It just works, but only when connected to compatible devices.

Perhaps Apple thought it still wasn't good enough over 3G.

I would've said perhaps the carriers happened but Apple did get imessage on there.

I stand corrected. Guess it is the carriers.

That's half the reason i jailbreak usually to enable my3G.

I'm with Bell and I get the same old "You must be connected to Wi-Fi to use Facetime"

Is this true? Are you on Verizon? Am I wrong to consider this a pretty serious loss if iOs 5 OR VZW doesn't support Facetime 3G?

    Thanks!!

IOS 5 has facetime over 3g built in, it is up to Verizon to enable it.

Jailbreak is only way...and it works WONDERFULLY. "My 3G" is name of the app/package

How so? It's not Apple that's preventing it, it's your wireless carrier.
