I have the exact same two phones and doing the exact same thing.
I will not do beta on my XR because I have been unimpressed thus far.

Yeah same here, 2 hours usage, 6 standby. That pretty much coincides with about the time I installed the new beta.

Yeah I'd say battery drain is fixed. Over an hour since I posted this and my Watch battery is STILL at the 84% that it was an hour ago.

I agree. Battery drain has seemed to subside since installing Public Beta 5.

I’ve installed the beta 5, and it feels so much snapper during use.

Also, my recent autocorrect weirdness disappeared. I was getting suggestions in French when typing in English and vice versa.

Still minor issues with Exchange mailboxes, but it could be due to the way the authentication might be setup by the organization.

I don't notice any difference in how the OS runs. Seems as good as beta 4, and beta 4 was great. Some issues were fixed. SwiftKey works better. Mail looks good. A few apps need to update. GifWrapped is horrible. Can't find anything wrong with this build.

Has anyone had issues with gifs not working properly? It's like they behave like live photos. They work on the camera roll and iMessage, but when I upload them to apps like Pocket Files, Box, or Twitter, they don't work. They're unresponsive.

I had the AW battery drain so I installed the watchOS beta and that fixed it. I figured since I was running the dev beta on my XS Max I might as well do the same on the watch.

So, if you put the watch beta on, how do you return to stock? Meaning, how are you able to stop the beta program as there is not a way for an individual to restore like on the phone.

My watch battery life much better now. Like before

But other than that, I like beta 5.
