If I turn my phone on/off while using the smart battery case, when the phone turns back on again I get a message about unlocking the phone to use this accessory. Anyone else?

That’s by design. It’s to protect your data on the phone. All accessories attached to the iPhone charge port need you to unlock the device before you can use them.

In the process of troubleshooting, but I’m having some weird charging issues. Plug my phone in over night, but wake up and the battery case is at 90% and my phone yesterday was at 80% and today at 50%.
