Does the Maps app not go into night mode on occasion when in connected via CarPlay?

Are any of you experiencing occasion when the Maps app doesn't switch to night mode when using CarPlay?

It has happened to me a a few occasion, but it wasn't that big of a deal because I was able to just switch over to the Navigational feature inherent to my car.

I wish I could say that I noticed it, but I typically use Waze and bypass Carplay. This past weekend our rental didn't even have Carplay.... pootie car lol.

I am very much looking forward to this next iteration of Carplay. Hopefully it'll fix the night mode for you.

It typically senses when the headlights automatically switches on and during that time, the Map will indeed go into night mode. Having said that, there are times when I have gotten on the road to travel in the wee hours of the night and night mode would not activate. Thankfully, I also have built-in navigation so I simply switch to it.
